Double Standard

Over the summer, I was fortunate enough to go to the premiere of Double Standard in London, Ontario. Double Standard is a skate video made by Jordan Guzyk that features skaters from all accross South Western Ontario. The video has been in progress since Jordan released Kbye back in 2011. It was filmed locally in London, but features footage in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, North Carolina, Chicago, San Fransissco, Arizona, and many other destinations.

Growing up as a skater in Chatham, I paid attention to the national skate meccas a lot in Toronto and in Vancouver, but I was more interested at the local level in the Windsor and London skate scenes. To me, the small local scenes are much more relatable and that much more exciting to see local skaters get national coverage. The contests, the local skate teams and their videos were so much fun to participate in. Back when I was filming regularly, I loved taking trips with friends to London and Windsor to film at different spots and to get to know the ins and outs of the cities. I would spend hours planning out filming trips and scoping spot locations on google maps street view. Filming skateboarding has always been a passion for me and I will always appreciate the small town skate video.

Without further adieu, here is Double Standard. Enjoy.

Double Standard is an independent Canadian skateboarding video produced and directed by Jordan Guzyk supported by Concrete Skateboarding Magazine, King Shit Skateboard Magazine, The London Boardshop, The London Skateboard Co-Operative, Bones Wheels, and Brostyle.
